Residents in parts of the Denali Borough have been ordered to evacuate due to increased wildfire activity of the Bear Creek Wildland Fire.

Officials issued a “GO” evacuation status Friday for the June Creek Subdivision and Bear Creek Subdivision, located between mileposts 264 and 270 West of the Parks Highway.

The evacuation order follows intensified fire behavior and shifting winds, which pushed the fire’s perimeter past a pre-established trigger point.

People in the affected areas are urged to leave immediately. There are currently no locations in “SET” or “READY” evacuation status, but officials warn that conditions could change rapidly.

Nearby residents are encouraged to remain alert and prepare an emergency kit with essential items such as clothes, important documents, and emergency supplies.

The Tri-Valley Community Center is serving as an evacuation checkpoint. For updates evacuation information, residents can call (907) 378-7985.
